RISE is a research charity. It aims to commission research and provide information on state education. RISE reports have covered many issues of particular interest to parents e.g. class size, school reports, home-school agreements, parental involvement in OFSTED inspections, school complaints procedures and school admissions. Research has been funded by various trusts, including the Nuffield Foundation and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. The most recent project researched the role of Parent Governor Representatives. Since 2003 all RISE research projects have been published via the Internet.
As well as seeking support for further research projects RISE is working on its information centre, an on-line catalogue of official on-line education data. This is intended to prove a valuable resource to researchers, information officers and journalists as well as parents, teachers and governors. The information is categorised to make finding official information easier. Sources include official data as well as press releases and parliamentary questions.
